About cotoba
cotoba are a four-piece band leading South Korea’s alternative and math-rock movement, drawing inspiration from Japanese pioneers like Toe, Mouse on the Keys, and Tricot. Formed in Seoul, the group made their debut in 2019 with the EP Form of Tongue, quickly establishing themselves as one of the most exciting new acts in the scene.
The line-up features Hyerim (bass), Dafne (guitar), Minsuh (drums), and DyoN (vocals, guitar). Together, they describe their music as “a language unto itself, a primal scream of desires, much like a newborn child entering this chaotic world.” Known for raw, electrifying live performances, Cotoba craft an emotional connection with audiences that goes beyond words—blending technical precision with visceral energy to create something both intimate and powerful.
